BL6-2c

Beamline 6-2c is a wiggler end-station dedicated to hard x-ray transmission microscopy. The full-field transmission X-ray microscope (TXM) is capable of 2D and 3D imaging (radiography and tomography), as well as spectroscopic imaging. Scientific areas include batteries, catalysts, fuel cells, among other nanoscale chemistry, materials science, and geology applications.

BL6-2b

Beam line 6-2b is a wiggler end-station dedicated to micro-focus High Resolution Hard X-ray Spectroscopy using polycapillaries and micro computed tomography.  High-Energy Resolution Fluorescence Detected X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy (HERFD-XAS) is performed in a dedicated He environment, with 3 rows of 5 analyzer crystals.

Source: 56-pole, 0.9-Tesla wiggler, End Station, 1.2 mrad acceptance.

BL6-2a

Beamline 6-2a is a wiggler-based versatile experimental station designed for high-energy-resolution spectroscopy in the tender x-ray range (1.6–5.0 keV). The station features a Johansson-type x-ray spectrometer operating on a Rowland geometry with cylindrical Johansson analyzers, enabling sub-natural linewidth energy resolution (~0.32 eV at 2400 eV). This instrument provides the unique capability of performing advanced spectroscopy (XES/HERFD-XAS/RIXS) studies for elements such as S, Cl, 4d metals, and 5f actinides.

BL5-4

BL5-4 is a normal incidence monochromator beamline optimized for high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) in the photon energy range of 7 - 40 eV with polarization control (circular polarizations: 7 - 40 eV, linear polarizations: 16 - 40 eV). The dedicated experimental end station is equipped with a SCIENTA DFS30-8000 electron spectrometer. This system is capable of performing ARPES experiments with a total energy resolution of a few meV and an angular resolution of 0.3°.

BL5-2

BL5-2 is a plane grating monochromator beam line optimized for high-resolution, micro-focused angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) in the photon energy range of 18 - 200 eV with full polarization control. The dedicated experimental end station is equipped with a SCIENTA DFS30 electron spectrometer. This system is capable of performing ARPES experiments with a total energy resolution of a few meV and an angular resolution of ~0.1°. It is also equipped with a low-temperature sample manipulator with three degrees of freedom of rotation, which can be cooled down to ~7 K.

BL2-3

Beam line 2-3 is a bending magnet side station dedicated to x-ray imaging and micro x-ray absorption spectroscopy (XANES, EXAFS) of biological, material science, and geological samples.  A SIGRAY axially symmetric mirror system is used to achieve microfocus with a beam size of either ~ 5 x 5 microns or ~ 1 x 1 microns.

BL2-2

Beam line 2-2 is a bending magnet experimental station setup for general x-ray absorption spectroscopy in the 4.5 keV to 37 keV range. This beam line features a QEXAFS capable water cooled double-crystal monochromator. Si(111) or Si(220) crystal sets can be installed. White beam experiments are possible. On-the-fly scanning modes are available to shorten acquisition time and enable time resolved studies. In addition, this beam line is equipped with a comprehensive suite of hardware and software tools that support R&D in beam line automation.

BL2-1

Beamline 2-1 is used for structural studies across a range of materials systems focused on powder diffraction and reflectivity. In addition to high throughput, high resolution diffraction data the beamline can accommodate highly customized in-situ and operando configurations. The beamline is frequently used to study electrochemical reactions, material response to variable temperatures or gas environments, and other user-defined setups.

BL1-5

Beamline 1-5 is a materials science beamline that has been used for a host of science areas, for example polymer morphology during deconstruction, nanoparticle synthesis, catalyst support materials, and hydrated skin samples. Beamline 1-5 is a bend magnet end station focused on small-angle x-ray scattering (SAXS) measurements, but with the possibility of also doing wide-angle x-ray scattering (WAXS). It can also be configured for simultaneous SAXS/WAXS. BL1-5 is equipped with two area detectors: Dectris Pilatus 1M (SAXS) and Dectris Pilatus 100K (WAXS).

BL4-3

Beam line 4-3 is a wiggler side-station dedicated for x-ray absorption spectroscopy and EXAFS measurements on biological, environmental, catalysis, and materials systems. This station enables tender x-ray measurement (S K-edge and up, i.e. 2.4-5 keV) in addition to hard x-rays (up to 10 keV). Separate in-hutch experimental setups are required for the two different energy ranges. In the tender x-ray energy range, the station is setup with a He flight path from the beam line optics to the sample to avoid absorption by air.
