BL6-2a

    Overview

Beamline 6-2a is a wiggler-based versatile experimental station designed for high-energy-resolution spectroscopy in the tender x-ray range (1.6–5.0 keV). The station features a Johansson-type x-ray spectrometer operating on a Rowland geometry with cylindrical Johansson analyzers, enabling sub-natural linewidth energy resolution (~0.32 eV at 2400 eV). This instrument provides the unique capability of performing advanced spectroscopy (XES/HERFD-XAS/RIXS) studies for elements such as S, Cl, 4d metals, and 5f actinides. The spectrometer integrates a separate ambient pressure He sample chamber, facilitating flexible sample environment conditions, including liquid jets, electrochemical cells, thermal reactors, etc. This beam line and instrumentation enable a multipurpose scientific program across catalysis, energy science, biochemistry, environmental science as well as actinides research.
