Experimental Run Schedules

Operating Schedule

SSRL operates as a dedicated synchrotron radiation source for approximately nine months per year (usually late October through late July). Maintenance and upgrade activities are arranged during the down time (August-September). The SSRL run year, called a cycle, is divided into three scheduling periods, called runs.

Please note that the SSRL Operating Schedule for the 2026-2027 run has changed relative to that previously posted under FY26 below. The user startup is now scheduled for October 12, 2026.

The 2026-2027 run will end early, on June 14, 2027, to enable a longer summer 2027 shutdown for the facility infrastructure work in preparation for a new beam line (see the SPEAR3 Schedule for FY27). The 2027-2028 run is currently planned to start October 18, 2027.
