Tips for Shipping SEC-SAXS Samples

Here are additional notes on shipping SEC-SAXS samples and buffers:

- Send the packages to arrive at SLAC/SSRL at least a day before your beamtime. It should arrive at SLAC/SSRL in the morning. We occasionally experienced delivery delay due to recent circumstances.

- The SLAC Shipping and Receiving Department is closed on weekends. Please do not send packages while they are closed. Packages should arrive by Friday morning. Otherwise, if the internal transfer could not be completed on Friday, the weekend user will lose the beamtime. Also the packages will be left for a long time in the area without refrigerator and freezer.

- Send a lot of SEC buffer as described on “Sample Requirement” page (e.g. >400mL for 24-48 hrs beamtime).

- Do not freeze the SEC buffer to save time. The user may need to ship it with frozen samples somehow.

- Do not ship the package to the office of the beamline staff. That also causes additional delay by internal transfer in SLAC. In addition, most other receiving rooms have no fridge and freezer. Please follow the shipping instruction page here.
