SEC-SAXS Beamtime
Tips for SEC-SAXS Beamtime Request
As with other experiments at BL4-2, access to the SEC-SAXS beamtime requires submission of a proposal through the user portal. More details on proposal submission can be found here.
In most cases, we recommend that the user request more than 2 days (48 hours) of SEC-SAXS beamtime for many reasons. Please communicate with the BL4-2 staff (link) prior to requesting beamtime or submitting a proposal.
Tips for planning your experiments during the beamtime
At the end of the setup, we usually recommend a test run with BSA (or another standard) to check the sample separation by the SEC column and to confirm that everything is working correctly. If the buffer equilibration was started in the morning, the user could start data collection around mid-afternoon or later.
If the user plans to use more than one SEC buffer, as a precaution, allow more than 3 hours for pump/system wash and buffer equilibration. In addition, if the user is unfamiliar with ThermoFisher UHPLC, consider available staff time in your experimental plan.
