Access Process and Experiment Preparation

Access Process and Experiment Preparation

To gain access to SSRL's recourses, please follow all steps listed on the left-hand menu.

This website offers an overview of the essential steps to gain access to the SSRL.

First, submit a comprehensive proposal for peer review, which will be scored by the Proposal Review Panel based on scientific merit. After receiving the proposal score, users can request beam time according to established deadlines for each scheduling cycle. A proposal allows the user to request time for six consecutive cycles (two years).

Once beam time is allocated, users must accept the scheduled time and submit a Support Request to identify their Experiment Team. This is followed by connecting with the appropriate beamline contact to ensure successful coordination of the experiment.

Before researchers can access SSRL, they need to request Site Access to SLAC and complete necessary training before conducting their experiments.

After the experiment, it is important to acknowledge SSRL in any resulting publications that use facility data and to complete the End of Run form, providing valuable feedback and documentation of the experiment conducted at the facility.

Thank you for following all required steps to ensure a smooth and efficient experience at SSRL.
