Donghui Lu – New Director of the SSRL Material Science Division
I’m pleased to announce Donghui Lu’s appointment as Director of the Materials Science Division of SSRL. Donghui brings a distinguished record of scientific and managerial achievements to this key role at the Lightsource. I look forward to working with him in refining our facility strategy and in strengthening our materials science user programs, building new capabilities, and establishing new research directions at SSRL, in collaboration with stakeholders across SLAC, Stanford and our broader network of partners.

IT Updates
Microsoft Project Online to be retired by Microsoft on 9/30/26
- As of April 2026, no new project web app (PWA), i.e. sharepoint sites that hosts the project data can be created.
- After September 2026, you will no longer be able to access your projects or any associated data within the Project Online service.
- Communication to lab and the affected stakeholders will take place in coming months.
Changes to Smartsheet for Moderate Risk Data
- Starting October 25, 2026 Smartsheet will no longer be approved for moderate risk data, including health information (PHI) due to security concerns, data loss risk and increasing costs.

MacOS Tahoe update
- Must update to the latest version of Sequoia (macOS 15) or Tahoe (macOS 26) by 2/1/2026
- Users were notified on November 18, 2025 and have been receiving Jamf-initiated prompts and notifications.

Email Forwarding
- Automated forwarding from SLAC email to Stanford accounts is no longer permitted.
- Automated forwarding of SLAC email to any external services (e.g., Gmail, Hotmail) is prohibited.
- CUI‑labeled emails must not be forwarded to any external accounts, including Stanford.

- Establishing a standardized license management process to eliminate inefficiencies and reduce unnecessary costs.
- Ensure that licenses are aligned with actual business needs, improving compliance and optimizing resource utilization.
