Abstract
Time-resolved X-ray diffraction (TRXD) is a promising technique for capturing attosecond-scale "electronic movies" of charge migration. However, TRXD signals primarily encode density-density correlations, rather than directly imaging instantaneous electron density. This talk highlights how TRXD effectively images electronic current density, representing the time derivative of
electron density in momentum space, providing critical insights into electron flow during nonequilibrium processes. Additionally, I will introduce nonlinear TRXD as an advanced approach to visualize electronic charge migration in molecules. This technique enhances traditional TRXD by offering a more comprehensive understanding of charge dynamics, making it a powerful tool for molecular investigations.
