Applications of Parametric-Down Conversion of X rays

Wednesday, May 16, 2018 - 3:00pm to 4:00pm

Speaker:  Aviad Schori of Bar-llan University

Program Description:

Parametric-down conversion has been studied extensively at optical wavelengths to study quantum effects and to probe the properties of materials. The extension of parametric down-conversion into the X-ray regime can be applied to study fundamental quantum effects, such as entanglement and squeezing, and open new opportunities to overcome the main limitations of conventional imaging and spectroscopy. My talk comprises of two such applications, namely Parametric-Down Conversion of X rays into the Optical Regime and Ghost imaging with paired X-ray photons.
