Electronic many-body physics on an ultrafast time scale

Wednesday, September 2, 2015 - 3:00pm

Speaker: Stefan Pabst, Harvard

Program Description

Ultrafast experiments looking into the dynamical behavior of multi-electron systems ranging from atoms to molecules and most recently to solids. Most systems are, however, modeled as single-active electron systems. In this talk, the importance of multi-orbital and multi-electron effects on an atto- to femtosecond time scale will be discussed. In particular, I talk about electronic correlation effects during the preparation of coherent hole motion, and the influence of collective excitations in high-harmonic generation.
