SPEAR3 Top-Off Injection

SSRL will employ a frequent fill schedule with 10 minutes between SPEAR3 injections starting on June 7, 2010. In order to provide users with a predictable fill schedule in case of injector problems, we have provided the following guidelines for the SPEAR3 operators:

Frequent Fill Schedule:

  1. Automatic injections will be conducted every 10 minutes to maintain SPEAR3 current stability to better than 1%.

  2. Automatic injections will only occur at the designated 10 minute intervals (i.e., on the hour and every ten minutes thereafter). If the injector is not functional at the designated fill time, then the fill will be skipped.

  3. If injection problems result in stored current decay below 180 mA, then once the injector is functional a 30 minute warning will be provided prior to injection. The 10 minute injection pattern will restart at the next designated fill time after the 30 minute warning.

  4. If automatic injection cannot resume, then manual fills will be conducted at 0600, 1400, and 2200.

  5. If step losses result in less than 180 mA stored current, then SPEAR3 will be re-injected immediately.
