The Bay Area English Regency Society (BAERS) , in association with GBACG, is pleased to invite you to our Spring-Fall 1999 Events.
Friday, May 14, 1999 : A dance party at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 600 Colorado Avenue (off Middlefield), Palo Alto, with waltzes, country dances, cotillions, all instructed, usually by Alan Winston. House band led by James Langdell. Musicians: Play for dancing and get in free! Dance party subscriptions $5. Live music, casual dress, no partner needed. Doors open 7:30, dance at 8:00. We have dance parties on the second Friday of every month except August, December and January.

June 11, 1999: 2nd Friday Dance Party with special guest instructor Philip Rayment.

Sunday, July 11, 1999: BAERS/GBACG Regency day at the Seaside: Enjoy the simple pleasures of Jane Austen’s day as we pick olallieberries, picnic, and stroll along the scenic coast near Half Moon Bay. No jumping from the Cobb, please.
Saturday, July 31, 1999: Country House Afternoon and Evening at Garden House, Shoup Park, Los Altos. Enjoy Regency-era games and music, an ollallieberry bake-off followed by a potluck buffet, then dance until the stars come out.
Saturday, August 28, 1999: The Hornblower Ball, celebrating the C. S. Forester centennial, at Arlington Community Church, 52 Arlington Avenue, Kensington. Martial rhythms by the Divertimento Dance Orchestra, dances led by Alan Winston, Master of Ceremonies Philip Rayment. Discounts for Forester Society, Brigade Napoleon, and active-duty members of the British Navy (huzzah!) Subscription $12 in advance, $16 at the door.

Saturday, October 9, 1999: A Latin American Regency Ball, at Arlington Community Church, 52 Arlington Avenue, Kensington. A day of workshops in authentic period dance of the tropics, and an evening ball at a West Indian plantation, open to all whether or not they attended workshops.
