This workshop on the fundamental aspects of hard X-ray Resonant Inelastic X-ray Scattering (RIXS) includes lectures and tutorials. Hard X-ray RIXS is a powerful spectroscopic tool due to the two-dimensional data planes, the high resolution in the energy transfer direction and the large penetration depth of the X-rays. The workshop will focus on experimental details together with in-depth data analysis and interpretation using both experimental fingerprints and detailed theoretical descriptions. Participants will also have the opportunity for some contributed presentations and to work with the teachers on own problems/projects.
A more recent version of CTM4XAS introduces Quanty to new users. Quanty is a script language that allows the user to build Hamiltonians in second quantization and to solve quantum mechanical problems including multiplet simulations. It can be obtained from the following website: Quanty.org. Participants are asked to download and equip their computers with the programs for use at the hands-on training session. The course is free to participants, but space is limited and advanced registration is required by 15 Feb, 2019.
