SEVEN UP (From "Dances of Early California"; San Juan Capistrano area). Closed couple dance, tune in book; 12-bar tune in 4/4 time. So called because you take seven steps each way; eg: 1-2: On first foot, side (1), close (2), side (3), close (4), side (5), close (6), side (7), and hold. 3-4: Same thing in other direction on other foot. 5: On first foot, step sideward (1), close (2), sideward (3), hold. 6: Same thing the other way. 7-8: Four turning traveling two-steps. 9-10: Same as 5-6. 11-12: Three turning traveling twosteps and a step hold.
