THE GOTHIC DANCE.
Longways whole set dance, 2/4 (single jig) time.


Form two lines down the room, the ladies on the right and gentlemen on the
left.

No. 1. Ladies advance two bars. Gentlemen then advance while ladies retire:
gentlemen stop and hold up both their hands, while ladies pass under them to
the other side. Repeat the whole to places.

No. 2. Two ladies and two gentlemen hands four round; gentlemen stop across the
room and hold up their hands while the ladies pass under and twice round their
partners; first and second couple galop down to the bottom and stop. Repeat the
whole until into place.


(Form fairly wide sets)
A1: 1-2: Women forward
    3-4: Men forward while women fall back
    5-8: Men arch in place, women go forward to men's side and men face back.

A2: 1-8: As above to place.

B1: 1-4: Head two couples circle 3/4 round, so men are below, women above.
    5-8: Men make a two-hand bridge, women let go hands, go under bridge, orbit 
         their own partner (1 or 2x), come in under the bridge, face partner, 
         reach up and take partner's arms to finish in ballroom position, 
         women in the middle.

B2: 1-8: Those two couples galop (race) to the bottom. Fall back into lines, 
         others move up.
