Trip to the Manors, Gary Roodman vol. 5 2 cpl, formation as in Handel with Care [diagram] Red Barnes Key: C Meter: Cut time M1 W2 W1 M2 Figure A: 1-8 U-S-A,twice Chorus B: 1-4 Partners set r & l, and change across (turn single optional) 5-8 Neighbors set r & l, and change, with partners face out of the set. C1: 1-4 Partners lead away (M R, W L) to side wall, lead back (to side wall) into 5-8 Half Heys for 4 up & down the hall (gent curls around to finish ON THE "wrong side" giving left hand to lady, facing out of the set next to opposite] C2: 1-4 Opposites lead away [up or down], turn, lead back into 5-8 Half Heys across. End in (or near) original places for next Figure. Teaching point 1: To teach the heys in C1, have everyone go forward, stand right shoulder to right shoulder with their opposite, and then turn to face their opposite. This establishes the orientation of the line (although this line is never exactly formed). You can do the same thing for C2, except it's forward to *partner*. Teaching point 2: In the heys, encourage the men to make fairly tight loops as they come around the ends to face out and receive the women on their left hands. Half heys up and down: Pass opposite by the right and turn right immediately into half heys for four. Meet your opposite at the other end of the line and face out. Half heys across: Pass partner by the right and turn right immediately into half heys for four. Meet your partner and end in original places. Turn single is encouraged.
