TRAFALGAR HORNPIPE  Wilson, "Treasures of Terpsichore" No tune given

There's a hornpipe called "Trafalgar" in Fiddler's Tunebook: Hornpipes, etc,
page 51.  Seems to work.

1.  AB (8b ea)
8b      1st & 2nd cu set (twice) & change sides & back
8b      cross over [& down] 2 cu & lead up one [progressive]

(SMG: I'd call this too short to bother with)
[APW: Not necessarily.  If that's the 1800s 4/4 hornpipe - eg, Nottingham Swing
tune or something like it] 16 bars is plenty long, and this is simple enough
to work okay for first-timers.]

So, that's:

A beats 1-8: set twice to partner
       9-16: men split women to cross over and loop into partner's place
      17-32: repeat with women splitting

B cross over, down past 1 couple, cross over, down past another, and up  
  the middle to progressed place.

[People were pretty goofy about this, but they enjoyed it.]


2.  AABB (8b ea)
4b      1st cu cast off while 3rd cu set & lead up inside  [sideways]
4b      3rd cu (at top) cast off while 1st cu (at bottom) set & lead up
4b      1st cu down the middle, up again to 2nd place [progressive]
4b      1st cu set to top [2nd] cu
8b      turn corners
8b      lead outsides
(SMG: lead outsides probably does not mean what you think it means - 1st cu
joins hands, crosses and sets to the man & woman below them in turn,
then does a two-hand turn back to places.  this is REALLY hard to do,
but I can give more details if you want to try it.)
