A1 1-4: 1s (set and?) turn single R (as in Petronella) into a line 
        up and down the center of the set, M1 below facing up, W1 above fc dwn. 
   5-6: 1s set while 2s move up to 1st place. 
   7-8: 1s petronella to 2nd place improper, 1s set.

A2 1-8: Roles reverse.  (All finish home but improper).

B1 1-4:	Circle once; 
   5-8: partners 2-hand turn half-way and set; 
  9-12: 1s cast off as 2s lead up and cast onto the ends of a line-of-4 
        across, facing up.


B2 1-4: Line of four goes Up-a-double and back without bending; 
   5-6: 2s gate 1s into progressed place and neighbors face. 
   7-8: Clap own hands (1-2-3-pause) twice; 
  9-12:  Neighbors back to back 
         [W1 in particular will want to turn over R-shoulder in the 2nd half 
         of the back to back, so as to be facing in ready for the next 
         petronella turn].

The version I have does match the tune in Barnes-- it's a reconstruction by
Chicago's Pat Talbot, and great fun.  Indeed, this version was the source
for Peter's tune, via my old "not in Barnes" notebook.

A1:	1s cast off, moving down the outside below *two* couples; skip up
the center back to place, then cast off into 2nd place as 2s move up (moving
up is very important!)

A2:  	2s the same.  [all home]

B:	1st corners change; 2nd corners change (4 counts per change)

	Single file circle half-way clockwise to own places, clapping 4
times (4 counts)

	Set to partner (R and L).

	3 changes of circular hey (no hands)

Mo's right-- the tune is a well-known Morris dance in many traditions.  All
the wise-guy/gal Morris dancers do 4 single capers (Brackley-style works
well, he said from personal experience) at the appropriate moment in the
music (in place of the setting).

Hi folks:

Thanks to all who e-mailed me off list. including Trev, Catie, Graham and
Gene, plus a fifth person whose e-mail I foolishly deleted (sorry!). I now
have three different dances entitled "Princess Royal":

The duple-proper longways from the Community Dance Manuals The three-part
three-couple dance by Pat Shaw A three-couple dance.different from both of
those

Interestingly enough, none of these matches the tune pattern in Barnes 95
(AAB, A = 8 bars, B = 12 bars), although the Shaw version does if you make
it AABB.

Any more out there?
