I've recently written a longways USA dance in Becket formation, and I've tried it out on one small group so far. Between the Becket formation and the Sousa march I chose for the music, I had American USA in mind as well as the Playford figures. Made in USA [Becket formation Music: Washington Post March (Sousa)] [All figures begin with partners facing] Fig. 1 With neighbor, in a double & back; set (to partner) & turn single. Partners in a double & back; set (to neighbor) & turn single. Chorus With neighbor full poussette (begin with men advancing) Cross set (pulling by neighbor), turn right & walk two steps along line; cross set back Partners two-hand turn. Fig. 2 Partners side right (Sharp); set & turn single. Neighbors side left; set & turn single. Chorus With neighbor full poussette (begin with men advancing) Cross set (pulling by neighbor), turn right & walk two steps along line; cross set back Partners two-hand turn. Fig. 3 Partners arm right; set & turn single. Neighbors arm left; set & turn single. Chorus With neighbor full poussette (begin with men advancing) Cross set (pulling by neighbor), turn right & walk two steps along line; cross set back Partners two-hand turn. [Note: When waiting out at ends: finish the chorus, even though when you cross back to your own line you pass no one, and two hand turn. Wait out on your old home side, but change places with partner while waiting out. Come back in during the chorus: when another couple crosses back, you cross the set to your new side.] Carmen Giunta (315)632-4992 giunta@lemoyne.edu Syracuse, NY http://web.lemoyne.edu/~giunta/dance/ On Jun 29, 2009, at 0:44 AM, Kalia Kliban wrote: > I sent this message right before the server went kerblooie, so it > never > got out there.
