Twice through the tune for each time through the dance.

A1 1s join R hands (2), then L hands (2) and turn halfway to change places and face the 2s (4);
All change places on the sides in the same manner.

B1 1s figure 8 up through the 2s (skipping step)*

A2 With the next couple: 1st diagonal turn 2 hands; 2nd diagonal turn 2 hands.

B2 Turn new neighbors 2 hands 1B= times (skipping step). Partners turn 2 hands.

* 1s will alternate sides each time through the dance, as in the Brooke & Chris dance
"Impropriety". If this is offputting, couples may elect to dance the figure 8 in 6 bars
and then cross R to end B1 proper, as is commonly done.

This is how Sharp describes the progression In the Country Dance Book (though there are
other major differences I do not attempt to include).

The figure of 8 is a normally phrased figure with no rushing needed.

Must be clear that it is always the dancers on the 1st diagonal with the NEW couple that
initiate the turning figure in A2.
