THE GAY GADDABOUT 3-couple longways whole set, progressive NIB ("Pat Shaw's Pinewoods"), Meter: 6/8, Key: Bb A1: 1-4: Joining right hands, 1s lead down the middle below 2s and 3s WHILE 2s and 3s fall back and come forward 5-8: With a pull of the right hand, 1s cross over with partner and skip back outside the set into partner's place, WHILE 2s and 3s slipping circle left, once round. A2: 1-8: 1s face partners, 2s face 3s, 3s face 2s: All dance a Circular Hey or Grand Chain (caller's choice) all the way round, using a skipping or skip-change step. B: 1-4: 1s move down the middle and half-figure 8 down through 3s, finishing proper in 2nd place; 2s move up on bars 3 and 4. 5-8: 1s go to their own right to do three-handed right hand stars with the end couples. 9-12: 1s pass left shoulder into left hand stars on the other end of the set. 13-16: All set forward toward partner, then 1s move down to the bottom and turn outward (Man right, woman left) while 3s cast up to middle and 2s turn single outward at top. [Repeat twice more when all should be home.] Pat's note: This should be brisk and lively and should have gay abandon (or should we say "Gay's abandon"?) The A music should be danced with the steps as indicated the whole of the B music with a skipping or skip change of step, except for the last four bars, which should be walked.
