Road to the Isles (per David Millstone) Couple dance, Varsouvienne position, typically starting with couples in a large circle all facing LOD around the room Music: same 1-4 Touch L forward (S), step back L, side R, front L (Q,Q,S). Repeat with opposite footwork. Then touch L forward (S), and by R (S). 5-8 Two schottische steps forward, beginning L, both turning 1/2 R on last hop. One schottische step forward, both turning 1/2 L on last hop. Part I 2 Put the L toe forward and hold. 2 Bring the R foot behind the L, and side-step Lwith the L foot. 2 Bring the R foot together with the L and hold. 2 Put the L toe forward and hold. 2 Bring the L foot behind the r, and side-step R with the R foot. 2 Bring the L foot together with the R and hold. 2 Put the R toe forward and hold. 2 Put the R toe back and hold. Part II 4 Forward R, L, R, then bring the L knee up while hopping on the R foot. 4 L, R, L, then bring the R knee up while hopping on the L foot while turning half-way around. (Turn in place, keeping hands with your partner. End with woman to the man's left.) 8 Repeat the two sequences above to return to place. 4 Forward R, L, R, then lift the L knee and hop on the R foot 4 Backward L, R, L, then hop on the L with a R knee lift. 8 Repeat the two sequences above to return to place. Part III 8 Man walks up the hall with the woman turning twice or thrice under his right arm. 4 Balance in, balance out. 4 Return to varsuviennee position and repeat all. Repeat until music ends or exhaustion occurs.
