PAT-A-CAKE POLKA


(I - Barn Dance Book)

Couple behind couple in a large circle around the room.

Ballroom hold:  

A 1-4: with a little bounce, heel, toe, heel, toe using leading foot
       (gents left, ladies right), then 4 sliding gallop/chassees CCW.

  5-8: Repeat with other foot in other direction.

 9-12: Drop hands.  3 right-hand claps with partner
                    3 left hand claps with  partner
                    3 2 hands together with partner
                    3 with ladies hands behind mans head; mans hands
                    round ladies waist.

13-16: Dance round for four bars; polka on the spot if able to.

(To make a mixer, polka for three bars and the ladies move on in 4th bar.)

Start slowly and speed up gradually.

(II - CDM)

2 concentric circles, men inside facing partners.

A 1-8: As above.

B 3 claps to right, 3 left, 3 both, 3 own knees.  Right arm swing and "pass
    her on to a new partner as he moves one place to his left."
