Ok. By popular demand, here are some. At this point some of the
choreographers may be attending your local Universities, or at least your
local dances, so watch out! There are no attributions other than at times
the kids put their classroom teacher's name in the title.

 

"New Dance" (this one I have called)

A1: circle left, circle right

A2: d/d opp, d/d part

B1: RH star, LH star

B2: elbow swing partner, pass through [note: I called swing partner, 2s
arch, 1s dive thru]

 

"Mr. D's Mix Up Max" (1993)

A1: circle left, Al R partner

A2: RH star, d/d partner

B1: 2 hand swing partner, jump/clap {i.e., jump up and down and clap your
hands}

B2: elbow swing opp, "clap through" {4 steps forward, clap hands of opp,
then continue forward to next couple}

 

"Dance #3"

A1: d/d opp, swing opp

A2: d/d part, sw part

B1: circle left, LH star

B2: 4 steps fwd, clap opp hands, 4 steps back, 2s arch, 1s dive through

 

"Drake's Demolition Derby" (1994)

A1: RH star, LH star

A2: All R partner, Hop-swing partner {elbow swing, hopping on one foot}

B2: figure 8 {I think this is like a lady round lady chase figure, but I'm
not sure}

     d/d opp

B2: side to side {like a fwd/back, only you go toward your partner}

    Push & pass {partner on the right (lady) turns in facing gnet, they
touch hands like "patty cake" and he pushes her between opp cpl to the next
couple - I suspect this is just couple 1}

 

Finally, this one is for Bill:

"White's Wacky Wound Up" (1994)

A1: Hop through (this is a pass through, or as we now know - Pogonade -
hopping on one foot)

   In & out (in circle of four)

A2: Back through (pass through, walking backwards)

   All L opp

B1: Back to back through (cpl #1 walks sideways, back in between #2)

   Circle left (with crossed hands)

B2: d/d opp, RH star

 

 

I actually have several more, but this is a sampling, at least of what was
hip in the third grade in the early years of the Clinton administration. I
don't have years for all of them, but the latest date on any is 1994. My
brother still has them coming, so I know I could get more.

 

Hey - maybe this kind of teaching is what made him win "Teacher of the Year"
for his district this past year?

I've done some gigs for school kids and have just been contacted 
about doing a program for a local elementary school, so I would also be 
interested in taking a look at these dances.
