12-bar blues!

contra, duple improper, dance length is 24 bars of 'regular dance time'
and noted as though you were going to use a 3 part tune, each part 
played once.


A: (1-2) with neighbor  "Turn Right half way" (...2 3 4)
   (3-6) same person "and Back with a Left" (all the way around into...)
   (7-8) "Chain, chain" (Ladies pull by with a R. straight into...)

B: (1-4) "Swing your Partner, Swing your Partner round"
         (use of a smooth pivot step swing here works well - its a short swing)
   (5-8) "Dance up to the middle and back" (Partners dance forward and 
          back toward the neighbor couple)

C: (1-4) "Forward and Turn the Lady under, and turn Her back again"
         (use "free hand" for the neighbor: Man's L. in the Lady's R. 
         This is a smooth transition like a swing dance move for you turn 
         her under 2x - over and back.)

   (5-8) "and Circle Left 3 places, Pass thru and begin again... 
         (original foursome joins in a circle L. 3/4 to original places then 
         couples Pass Through along the line of dance)

This dance requires a live band capable of playing a 12 bar blues 
rather than a fiddle tune.

Don't let the band 'give the music away' by playing it over the PA 
during the walk thru.

Teach the dance as though it were going to happen as a regular contra.

When the music starts ask the musicians to bring it down from the 4 
chord - and slow is better.
