INDIGO SILK
Lynn Ackerson, 2006
PROPER contra (yes, PROPER!)
Smooth, even slinky, reels.

A1: 1's star thru (M Rh, W Lh, she under the arch and both face down) into ...
     all 4 circle L 0.5
     NEIGHBOR swing (briefly)

A2: GENTS allemande L 1.5
     PARTNER swing

B1: Circle L 0.75
LADIES roll partner away with a half sashay
[2s are BELOW, 1s are ABOVE at this point]

1s hold up the hand they have joined to make an arch.
2's cross up under the arch and turn down into a line of four
      (it's like 3/4 of a half-figure eight or a crosstrail through to line);
2's end next to same sex neighbor in line of 4 facing down the hall
      [From caller's view, W2 W1 M1 M2]

B2: Down hall 4 in line
    Turn alone, return
    2's hand cast the 1's
[That is, the opposite of bending the line; 2s back around bringing 1s
forward; you could say 'gate' but it doesn't help.]

(a1: 1s, (who, seeing each other, reach out and star thru).)

NOTES:

[B1 is extremely cool]

Rolling away the men is unexpected; half-figure 8 is unexpected; it's just
generally confusing. It might be better to say the 2s crosstrail through
the 1s than to say half-figure.

Also, make everybody do star through at the beginning, so that it doesn't
come as a complete surprise to the 1s.

REMIND PEOPLE THAT IN A PROPER CONTRA YOU DON'T CROSS OVER AT THE ENDS
