JANE EWING SEZ:

It seems to me that many dances have a spot for the Lades to "show off" but not
so for the Gents. This gives the opportunity to the guys and frequently I see
the most creative things on the floor.

I consider this dance to have a quirk in it. That being the Queen Bee Hey. In
an evenings program I try to have at least one "quirky" dance. Seems to keep
the experienced dancers on their toes! Therefore I call it ( along with Dead
Cat's Bounce and Queen Bee ) on a regular basis but they do go into my batch of
quirky dances and rotate with the others.

Also, when I teach this dance, along with several others that have unusual
moves, I follow a suggestion I got from Becky Hill. In this particular case, I
have the dancers exchange places with their neighbors and I teach the Hey. This
is the position they will be in when the Hey starts. Then they go back to
original places and I walk thru the dance once from the start.

I do feel that if you have too many unusual moves in the evenings program some
dancers stop enjoying it. Many come to a dance to relax and zone out - they
really don't want to think about too many different moves - they are
comfortable in the flow they are used to.

Also says:

Queen Bee Hey: Ladies do their traditional part in a hey for 4 - start by
passing right shoulders. As the Ladies pass the Gent(Partner) by the left
shoulder the gents head for the middle of the set. They approach each other
with palms facing the other gent. They push off by the palms and go back to
place. They will notice that some side stepping will facilitate the move.
Important point - Gents should try to avoid tripping Ladies! Gents will
repeat this move after their Neighbor passes them.
