A1: Top man leads line of gents around the women and back to place.
A2: Top women leads her line
B1: 1s cross over and weave down the opposite line to meet at bottom;
      inactives step up as the 1s pass them
    [I like a "lace the boot" to get to the bottom, but what the author
    intended is a "picking of sticks"-type weave down the line you're in,
    which is fun if you're drunk enough - disappear from your partner and
    reappear magically at the bottom.]

B2: All swing in position; 1s finish proper.

I collected Lover's Knot c1970!  There was never any specific tune to it
but it was generally done to bouncy jigs oe reels.  For many years, whilst
working with Pyewackett, I did this dance to the tune of Portsmouth (and
called it the Portsmouth Review).  David Mills was a great fan of
Pyewackett so that may be why he is suggesting Portsmouth.  If you are able
to get hold of a tape or LP of "7 to Midnight" (Pyewackett, 1985, Familiar
Records) you will be able to hear how we played it.  Failing that, if you
have access to something like NetMeeting then I could try playing it to you
over the net.

A1   Men take hands and led by top man, dance all the way round the ladies
A2   Ladies take hands and led by top man, dance all the way round the men
B1   Top couple cross over to the other side and weave (indivdually) down
the
     opposite line crossing back over at the bottom (pull by) to own side
B2   Star right and left in groups of four
