LAUGHING WILLOW 12/3/2004 Alan Winston 5-person-set: circle of four, #1 in the middle. Make sure everyone knows their number originally; it may be best to put them at compass points and say "12-o'clock is #2" Smooth reels, old-timey, Appalachian flavor. 5x 32-bars. A1: Birdie in the cage: All four corners circle left for eight bars while #1 improvises stepping. A2: All four corners cross set at once ("clump"), passing left of center and falling back. Then cross back the same way. B1: 1-4: 1&2 and 3&4, arm right at least once plus enough to get to the next person around the ring. #5 hang out. 5-8: 1&4, 3&5, arm left at least once plus enough to get to the next person; #2 hangs out. B2: 1-4: 2&4 and 1&5, arm right ... #3 hang out. 5-8: 2&5, 1&3, arm left ... and finish facing in; 4 jumps into the middle. Note: In B1 and B2, if you find you've got nobody to arm with, turn around. The person who jumps in to start the next round is the one who was out in the last arm left.
