FIFTY-FIFTY WALTZ (From "Step Lively 2" by Marian Rose; her own composition.) Circle of couples facing into the center; hands joined. 32-bar waltzes. A1: Balance forward and back; women move one place to the right. (Women step into the circle to face the man on her right - NOT PARTNER - then take his right hand in her left and back up into the next spot.) (Yes, it's a roll away.) Repeat a total of four times. "Your partner is now distressingly far away." A2: Same deal, except that the men roll away to the right. Repeat four times; you should be back to your partner. B1: Face partner, join right hands with arms extended elegantly, and using four waltz steps walk around each other in a clockwise direction. (Eg, right hand turn.) Left hand turn. B2: Face partner, join both hands and chassez two steps into the center and two steps out. Step toward partner, extending arms to the outside; step away. Open out facing into the center. [Note - no progression, no travel, no partner change.]
