The dance Chanctonbury Ring was written by Dick Playll (please note the spelling). Chanctonbury Ring
is a well-known landmark on the South Downs. It is an Iron Age hill fort and is best known for its
prominent clump of beech trees which were planted in 1760. Chanctonbury Ring is also a Morris team of
which Dick Playll was a former squire.
