Danse du Castor (The Beaver Dance)    It is in our book Sweets of May(SOM). This dance is from an indian reservation at the north end of Lac St Jean in Quebec.  It is usually the last dance of the night...and features a step dance part called the Beaver Step...  not necessary for the dance as we do it.  Here is the dance as it appears in SOM.   We phrased it because that is the way PE and music teachers want/need it.  In Quebec they do it across the phrase using crooked tunes.

A1     All swing partners
A2     First cpl chasse doen the set and back
B1     Grande chasse.  (First cpl lead everyone in a grand galop around the set.  Take partners in regular dance position, and follow top cpl...chasse around to left hand side of set to bottom and back up to places.)
B2      First cpl chasse outside to bottom. (First cpl continue by themselves around outside to bottom to stay.)   Everyone esle skip/jig in place.

There are other versions of this dance.  This is the one we do.
