Barnes couple-dance has a pickup that's two notes for one beat, two notes for one beat, rest for one beat;
dance starts on the strong downbeat with the chord (as you'd expect).

Set tempi by the A1 balance and turn single

Everyone notice your original direction of progression
(which way you're facing)

A1: 1-4: balance the ring (in-2-3,out-2-3), 
         turn single one place to the right
    5-8: repeat

A2: 1-4: Left hand star
    5-8: right hands back and face partner

  B1:  1: all step toward partner, then 
          loop toward neighbor to face out (almost back-to-back w/ partner)
       2: take near hand with neighbor,lead out
       3: lead out and
       4: loop away from neighbor to face partner
       5-8: Partners swoop in to rsh around, finish close
            and take two hands.



B2: 1-2: clockwise draw pousette [2nd diagonals draw diagonally 1/4 along
         the side of the diamond to the next point] just one quarter, 
         so partners are facing each other up or down out at 
         the sides at the point of the diamond
    3-4: partners two hand turn briskly once and a bit round and open 
         with the same
         people in the lead but now with their left shoulders pointing
         diagonally toward original home place.
         facing diagonally back toward the spot you just came from.)

         
    5-6: retaining one hand, second corners draw partner to home place facing 
         original direction of progression.

    7-8: neighbors pass through passing right shoulders (optionally turning
         single as they go), form new rings.

Note: Imagine a diamond shape overlaid on the set (or if you prefer, a
plus-sign  with one stroke down the middle (dividing partners, Y axis) and one
between the two couples (dividing neighbors, X axis) the diamond connects the 
ends of the plus sign.)  The poussette takes you to the ends of the X axis;
then you open up along the diamond track and follow the diamond track until 
the Y axis is between you.
