LINKING VERBS Alan Winston, 11 April 2025 https://www-ssrl.slac.stanford.edu/~winston/mydances/apw/banks_of_lough_gowna.pdf (32-bar 6/8 AABB) longways duple minor A1 1-4 facing partner across, near hand with neighbor, set and link 5-8 The people who just arrived on first corners orbit CW, halfway around the set to change places landing next to partner, while the others do tight left hand turn once. A2 1-4 facing neighbor across, near hand with partner, set and link 5-8 (as above) [all progressed and crossed over] B1: 1-4: First corners [the people who just orbited] cross right shoulder (through home) and loop left along the outside; second corners go in to turn right hand 3/4 (passing left with first corner as they go in); takes them to progressed place proper. 5-8 orbiters tuck *in front* of partner (behind neighbor) making a right hand star; star turns all the way to progressed and proper place. B2: 1-4 Second corner places turn back over left shoulder to start a partner left shoulder back to back (seesaw). 5-8 partners right shoulder back to back, and take inside hand with new neighbors. Tested at Woodshed 2025-07-09 - success; instructions rewritten to clarify. Banks of Lough Gowna is a fine tune, very Scottish. New test 2026-01-27. Really took a while for peple to get hold of. Suggest making sure that people are doing set and link well enough that it's obvious who has forward momentum.
