UNTITLED026 First draft written on flight to Seattle 2024-01-06 // Revised at Woodshed 2024-01-08 Need Tune with more drive! Moderate Waltz. (Worked well to "Ani's Waltz", not too slow). Good tune: The Emigrant's Daughter https://www-ssrl.slac.stanford.edu/~winston/mydances/apw/Emigrants_daughter.pdf Emigrant's daughter doesn't have enough drive; need something more like "Ani's Waltz".) Audition waltzes. A1 1-4: 1s with crossed hands turn down the middle (once or twice round) and fall back to sidelens WHILE 2s turn single down in to a big cast up the outside to 1st place. 5-6: 1s side step up the outside while 2s take crossed hands and side step down the middle; 7-8: 1s take crossed hands and side step down middle while 2s side step up the outside. A2: 1-8: As above with roles reversed, all home. B1: Double figure 8: 2s turn down to cast up to start, 1s cross down to start. B2: 1-4: left hand star once round (make sure it gets you there) 5-6: right hand star halfway (progressed improper) 7-8: partners turn right hand to own side. (Ones can keep that right hand and join left to start the crossed-hand turn.) Observation: Has an old-timey feel. Pretty straightforward; was able to stop calling after a bit even with a couple of non-expert English dancers. They generally liked it. Should come up with a name. At Wppdshed 2026-01-27 it became clear that the 1s keeping hold of hands and sidestepping back was counterintuitive, so gonna swtich.
