STORM PETREL v1 tune by Andrew vanNorstrand - Around 100bpm. 3cpl set Woodshed 12 November 2019 Participants in group choreography exercise: Alan Winston, Cin Barnes, Jennifer Lamb, Mary Tabor 24 bar A 10 bar B repeated. Takes about 70 seconds Measures A 1-4: 1s and 2s circle left, pulling in a little as you get home 5-8: same 4 cast back over left shoulder coming in as they travel for a left hand star (forms on bar six) 9-12: Partners no hands half-poussette CCW (progressive) [First corners start by turning back to face partner, then backing up] 13-24: As above with 1s and 3s (finish 2-3-1) B1: 1-2: All balance toward partner and back 3-4: End couples turn half and face in to the set WHILE middles (3s) hole in the wall cross, fall back, face up 5-8: mirror hey, 2s at top through the middle first 9-10: cross right shoulder to own side, face partner B2: 1-2: All balance back 3-8: middle people split the right hand end couple to start heys for three across the set 9-10: partners two hand turn finishing 2-3-1. ISSUES: In the As, the 3s and then the 2s just stand there for 12 bars, which seems like a lot. Alan would like to try having the couple that's not in the circle do some variation on orbiting the set and going shoulder around that doesn't run them into the poussetters. (Maybe orbit the whole set in eight bars, right shoulder around at home in four). [10.9.2024 - This isn't really a concern.] In the hey across into two-hand-turn, middles will meet partner a few beats sooner than ends will unless they consciously hold back. At A 5-8: people need to consciously travel along the star path and get at least a 1/4 around on the cast. Note: At B1 3-4: had the feedbck that it's not exactly a hole in the wall cross; contemplate the description "make a curvy pass right shoulder".
