POOH STICKS 12/2/2004 Alan Winston, rev 5/17/2008 32-bar jig or reel 3-cpl longways, 2S IMPROPER, progression 231 "Bung Your Eye" is good. A1: Right file takes hands in line (W M W because 2s are improper!), then, skipping, weaves down left file (across top, between 1 and 2, between 2 and 3, below 3 and back to place). A2: Left file the same. B1: 1-4: Top two couples 1/2 draw poussette (men drawing) WHILE bottom couple two-hand turn (or short swing) 5-8: Bottom two couples (1s and 3s) draw poussette (men draw) WHILE top couple two-hand turn (or short swing). B2: 1-8: Slipping circle left and back to the right; right file keep hands, ready to start. (Alternatively, polka step all the way around which gives left file momentum to start A1 in the right direction). (Title refers both to Winnie-ther-Pooh's game of dropping sticks in the river [and my hope the dance will flow] and to the combination of poussettes and an echo of "Picking of Sticks."] NOTES: 12/8/2009 There may not be enough time to do a full weave in 8 bars. It's fun for ceilidh purposes to let #1 lead somewhere, so long as you get back in time. Transition into first 1/2 poussette, men drawing, is surprising because momentum is wrong. Make women draw? go for regular poussette and leave the 2s proper? Suggestion to try back-to-back for the couple who isn't poussetting.
