GRASS VALLEY WALTZ 4/27/08 (minor tweaks make it a robust jig) Written while helping at SF Scottish Fiddler's concert Longways duple minor proper, wideish set Moderate/slow waltz A1: 1-2: First corners set in place (or balance f&b) 3-4: same two pass right shoulders (optionally turning single as you go), finish facing out (others face out as you get there) 5-6: Picking up PARTNER on the side of the set, lead out and 7-8: Cast away from partner to return (interlace with people from next set if necessary) A2: 1-8: Second corners lead the figure; lead out is with same-sex NEIGHBOR (all progressed, improper) B1: 1-2: First corners half-gypsy to home 3-4: Second corners half-gypsy to home 5-8: 1s cast very wide (turn up for 3, out and down for 6, come in for 3) WHILE 2s meet, lead up, lead up, curve out so the 2s are facing out and the 1s are facing in, all progressed. B2: 1-4: SHUTTLE: 1s take two hands and do four small waltz-time chasses up WHILE 2s long cast down (waltz step); 5-8: SHUTTLE CONTINUES: repeat above with 1s casting, 2s leading. [So 1s get a cast and chassee and cast, while 2s get a lead and cast and chasse.]
