EXAFSPAK for
Windows
This release of PC-EXAFSPAK uses the Hummingbird Exceed X-server, and this must be installed before EXAFSPAK can be used.
Windows 95, 98 and ME - specific EXAFSPAK installation procedure:
4, 5 and 6. Set the system environment variables exafs to indicate the folder in which the EXAFSPAK files are located. Set the system environment variable home to indicate the folder for your settings. Modify the path system environment variable to include exafs and the location of the Exceed installation.
Please note - in the following example EXAFSPAK is to be installed in d:\exafspak with the home directory d:\exafshome. This is merely an example - EXAFSPAK does not have to be installed in any specific disk or folder. Also, in our example Exceed was installed in c:\Program Files\Exceed.95 you must enter the location of the exceed installation on your PC.
You should edit your c:\autoexec.bat file to include the following lines (note the use of " " around the long filenames).
set exafs=d:\exafspak
set home=d:\exafshome
set path=%exafs%;%path%
set path="C:\Program Files\Exceed.95";%path%
Please note - in some systems long filenames such as "C:\Program Files\" may not recognized. In this case it is recommended that you determine the short filename equivalent and use these instead - for example :
SET PATH=C:\PROGRA~1\EXCEED.95;%PATH%
Please note - In some instances Windows might give you a message such as "Not enough environment space". In this case you may wish to increase your environment space, which you can do by editing the file C:\CONFIG.SYS, and insert the following line at the start of the file.
SHELL=C:\Windows\COMMAND.COM /P /E:4096
The /P causes Windows to leave COMMAND.COM running after the first user command, and the /E:nnnn sets the environment space. The value of 4096 should be enough for most systems.
You should re-boot your system before attempting to use EXAFSPAK.
