Unlike the one hole final state
of XES, Auger decay leads to a two-hole state under emission of an
Auger electron. This decay can take the form of a spectator or a participator
decay. In the spectator decay, the excited electron does not take
place in the decay process, wheras in the participator decay, the
excited electron takes part in the decay. ui
