Program Description
Unconventional superconductivity (SC) is usually found near another ordered phase. Antiferromagnetism, spin density wave, or charge density wave (CDW) phases often exist within the pseudogap region that overlaps with SC. A complete picture of the phenomenon must include the interaction of SC and these neighboring ordered states of matter. Through the use of x-ray scattering, we were able to observe charge order domain walls above the dome-structure of superconductivity in the phase diagram of TiSe2. Our studies indicate that superconductivity may be related to the formation of domain walls, rather than fluctuations at the quantum critical point.
