Program Description
Short x-ray pulses from free electron lasers (FEL) open a new regime for all scientific research. The first x-ray FEL, the Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS) at the SLAC National Laboratory on the Stanford campus, provides intense short pulses that allow the investigation of ultrafast non-linear and multi-photon processes, including time-resolved investigations in molecules and clusters.
We will report on the femtosecond response of fullerenes to the ultra-intense, ultrafast x-ray radiation from LCLS as well as on time-resolved investigation, using the recent LCLS-based x-ray pump-x-ray probe technique.
