Program Description
Many systems show interesting states as they are cooled. States include exotic superconductivity, magnetic ordering, and quantum crystals. While neutron scattering is regularly used to study materials at temperatures below 1 K, x-ray synchrotron work has lagged behind. In this talk I will discuss the challenges and potential of low temperature synchrotron work, including recent work on the quantum crystals 3He and 4He.
