| Prefix | Document Type | Document Description | |||||
| AD | Assembly Drawing (Top Assembly) | AD will always have the suffix 00. The Top Assembly will consist of all SA, PF parts, hardware and any purchased items not called out on another sub-assembly. | |||||
| AP | Administrative Procedure | A document or drawing that details steps necessary to perform a procedure, job or operation. | |||||
| AT | Test Procedure | A written description of a test procedure. | |||||
| BD | Block Diagram | A diagram of a system, instrument, computer program or for organizational representation. Reads top left to bottom right. | |||||
| CA | Cable Drawing | An assembly drawing of a cable indicating overall dimensions including or excluding terminators, tolerances, connectors or terminals, special assembly instructions and applicable tests if required. | |||||
| CD | Circuit Description | A description of a circuit expressed simply and in conjunction with the schematic diagram making the circuit easily understood. | |||||
| CL | Cable List | A document showing cable number, tope, terminations and any pertinent documents. | |||||
| CM | Computer Manual | A manual giving instruction in the operation and maintenance of a computer of computer system. | |||||
| DD | Design Data | A document giving design information for electronics, mechanical or vacuum components or systems. This document would be useful as a manufacturing or troubleshooting aid. | |||||
| DI | Design Information (No longer assigned) | An engineering document listing all drawings required for the fabrication, assembly and maintenance of a piece of equipment or a system. This document indicates the latest revisions for each drawing listed. | |||||
| DL | Drawing List | A document or drawing which details specific parameters for the design and drafting of a particular part or system. | |||||
| DS | Design or Drafting Standard | A standard or set of rules by which components can be selected for a complete system or circuit. | |||||
| ED | Electronic Design Criteria | A standard or set of rules by which components can be selected for a complete system or circuit. | |||||
| EI | Electrical Interconnection | A form of connections or a wiring diagram which shows only external connections among units, set, groups and systems. | |||||
| ES | Elementary Single Line | A drawing which shows by means of graphic symbols and single lines the curse of an electrical circuit or system of circuits and the component devices or parts used. The single line diagram covers basic information but omits much of the detailed information normally shown on schematic diagrams. | |||||
| FC | Flow Chart | A diagrammatic representation of a sequence of operations. | |||||
| FD | Flow Diagram | A drawing or fluid power diagram which indicates by directional arrows and graphic symbols the major components of a system and their locations relative to one another, as well as the direction of flow within the circuit. | |||||
| FL | Film | Films generated from artwork master or from the CAD system used to fabricate pc boards or make silk screens. | |||||
| FM | Field Modification | An engineering document that lists changes on assemblies, systems or purchased items. The document shall contain complete information for accomplishing the changes. | |||||
| FP | Fabrication and Process Standard | A document which describes the minimum requirements and/or sequence of steps to complete a fabrication process such as painting, cleaning, heat treating, and/or the screening / assembly sequence for a hybrid circuit. | |||||
| GP | General Purpose | A drawing that fits no specific prefix such as a site plan or general arrangement for a study project, most generally not intended for construction or installation. | |||||
| HC | Hybrid Circuit | A drawing representing a hybrid circuit artwork to be used as a circuit image for reference or to produce films for fabrication. | |||||
| ID | Installation Drawing: Mechanical | Mechanical Type: The installation drawing pulls together all AD Top Assemblies, SA Sub Assemblies, PF Fabricated Part drawings, purchased parts and hardware needed to complete the installation of a particular component into the system. The drawing should show reference. locating dimensions and have any special notes to aid the installer. this drawing is the starting point for tracking down the proper replacement parts by the installers. | |||||
| ID | Installation Drawing: Facilities | Facility Type: A drawing shows all the necessary information and pertinent dimensions necessary to install a device or system. It may be used to install a magnet or an instrument, or for facilities type drawings for buildings, utilities and such, quite often accompanied by a PS, Purchase Specification (outside procurement) or by an OS, Installation Specification. | |||||
| IM | Instructional Manual | A document which completely and explicitly details all the necessary steps to operate or assemble a device or system. | |||||
| IS | Installation Specification | A comment which specifies work procedures, standards of quality of materials and workmanship for installation of equipment or facilities. | |||||
| LD | Logic Diagram | A drawing showing by means of graphic symbols the sequence and function of logic circuitry. | |||||
| LO | Layout | Layout drawings that would not otherwise be released, i.e.. 3D cad models, ray trace studies and system layouts longer than 12'. | |||||
| MA | Multiple Sub-Assembly (No longer assigned) | ||||||
| ML | Material List | A document listing all the materials necessary for the fabrication and assembly of a device, chassis, system, etc. Only sheet one carries the revision note but all subsequent sheets carry tee revision number. | |||||
| MP | Multiple Part Drawing | ||||||
| NC | Numerical Control Table Line Diagram | A paper or Mylar tape document generated on the computer or cad system used for machine control for the fabrication of a pc board, sheet metal parts, and for the fabrication of machine parts for mechanical devices. | |||||
| OF | Office Form | A form to be used as a master for producing various standard format sheets. | |||||
| OM | Operational Manual (No longer assigned) | ||||||
| PB | Patch Board | A document showing patch board connections. | |||||
| PC | Printed Circuit | A drawing representing a circuit board artwork to be used as a circuit image for reference or to produce films for fabrication. | |||||
| PD | Piping Diagram | A drawing showing all equipment, valves, instruments and devices of a mechanical circuit. Flow arrows are indicated as well as line sizes and numbers. Ordinary fittings are not necessarily shown. | |||||
| PF | Fabricated Part Detail | 1. A drawing of a single part calling out all required information to fabricate the part. 2. A simple element where are shown all necessary dimensions and weld symbols to fabricate the part. This drawing cannot call out other drawings or purchased parts to be welded together. A weldment cannot be disassembled. | |||||
| PR | Rack Profile | An engineering document locating each piece of equipment or panel at the proper elevation in a rack. Each unit shown shall include its title and its document number. | |||||
| PS | Purchase Specification (Technical) | A document which specifies standards of quality of material, devices or equipment for purchase by the SLAC Purchasing Department. | |||||
| PT | Program Table | A document used in the programming of programmable devices such as integrated circuits. | |||||
| QC | Quality Control Standard | A document which describes the minimum requirements for the manufacturing, assembling and workmanship in furnishing electrical, electronic, mechanical or general parts or equipment. | |||||
| QT | Qualification Test Procedure | A document or drawing which shows or describes a specific procedure for testing a new or untried manufacturing or operating procedure. | |||||
| RD | Repair Description | A document or drawing which shows or describes a specific procedure for effecting repairs to a device, instrument or piece of equipment. | |||||
| RL | Running List | A listing of point-to-point circuit connections to facilitate wiring, checkout and maintenance of a device, panel or system. | |||||
| SA | Sub-Assembly Drawing | 1. A drawing taking PF fabricated parts, other assemblies and/or purchased parts and fastening them together to create another assembly. 2. A weldment type drawing with separate PF fabricated parts and/or purchased parts called out on the drawing. | |||||
| SC | Specification Control Drawing | A drawing which indicates design and fabrication parameters for a part, system or a piece or equipment. It will accompany either a Purchase Specification (PS) or a Purchase Requisition. | |||||
| SD | Schematic Diagram | A schematic or elementary diagram shows by means of graphic symbols the electrical connections and functions of a specific circuit arrangement. A schematic diagram facilitates tracing the circuit and its functions without regard to the actual physical size, shape or location of the component devices or parts. | |||||
| SI | Silkscreen Drawing | A marking drawing showing the location of information to be silk screened onto a part. | |||||
| SP | System Specification | A document describing the parameters of a complete electrical, electronic, or mechanical system. | |||||
| SR | Safety Regulation | A document outlining specific procedures to follow for accident prevention, such as specific color codes, eye protection, etc., to safeguard against physical hazards and radiation. | |||||
| SS | System Schematic | A document showing system operation, system components, locations, cables and interconnects. The SS prefix as occasionally used in the past for a system specification but will not longer be used in this capacity. | |||||
| ST | System Test Procedure | Written description of a System Test Procedure, with or without a pictorial description of the setup. | |||||
| TD | Transport Deck | Assigned to Golden Deck. | |||||
| TF | Tool Fixture | The prefix TF is used instead of the prefix SA when designing tooling fixtures. The prefix PF will still be used for fabricated parts to be used in the Tooling Fixture. | |||||
| TI | Trunk Interconnect | A listing of trunk cable connections. | |||||
| TR | Technical Report | A document for outlining a project, reporting progress on a project, or for describing in detail the technical aspects of a project. | |||||
| WD | Wiring Diagram | A wiring diagram shows the electrical connections of an installation, or of its component devices or parts. It may cover internal or external connections or both and contains such detail as needed to make or trace connections that are involved. A wiring diagram usually shows general physical arrangement of the component devices or parts. A wiring diagram may be prepared in the form of wiring list. | |||||
| WL | Wire List | An engineering drawing consisting of tabulated data and instructions required to establish wiring connection within or between pieces of equipment. | |||||
