Equipment for EXAFS Measurements
The equipment listed below is available upon advance request. If it was
not included on your original beam time request form it is unlikely that
it can be provided due to the over-demand for this equipment.
- (2) 13-element Ge detector array (Canberra) including electronics.
- (4) Fluorescence ionization chamber detector ("Lytle Detector") with
filters and Soller slits.
- (3) Continuous flow liquid helium cryostat (Oxford Instruments) for
temperatures down to 4K, including turbo pump cart and control system.
- (4) Motorized EXAFS rail systems, including 3 ion chamber supports,
slit support and calibration foil support.
- (1) 2-3 keV He flight path with slits and ion chamber. Requires motorized
rail.
- (1) Single crystal orientation stage and laser (compatible only with
end stations). Requires motorized rail.
- (1) Grazing incidence x-ray absorption spectroscopy apparatus including
motorized slits, motorized optical rail, ion chamber supports, He flight
path up to end of first ion chamber; theta grazing angle, vertical sample
alignment, ful l phi rotation, 0-90 deg stepwise chi capability; most motions
computer controlled.

ANY NON-STANDARD EQUIPMENT OR ADDITIONAL PIECES OF STANDARD EQUIPMENT
IN EXCESS OF THE QUANTITY LISTED MUST BE REQUESTED IN ADVANCE.
SSRL has a UHV chamber with a double pass CMA spectrometer available
to users. (Contact Roger Carr, ext. 3965) for specific information about
this system. REQUESTS FOR THIS CHAMBER MUST BE INCLUDED ON THE BEAM TIME
REQUEST FORM.
Vacuum Pump Shop
The vacuum pump shop is staffed by Ken Culler (ext. 2099). The following
equipment is available for users, but must be requested in advance on your
User Support Requirements Form.
-
(4) Turbo Pump Carts
- (16) Roughing Pumps
| |
There are not always enough turbo pumps to go around, so you should
indicate if you can use a diffusion or ion pump cart instead.
