Polymers (Frank)

This research is in collaboration with Curt Frank's group in Chemical Engineering at Stanford (http://cheme.stanford.edu/faculty/layout.php?sunetid=cwfrank) and involves small angle X-ray and neutron scattering studies of interpenetrating network hydrogels. Hydrogels are hydrophilic polymer networks that can imbibe large amounts of water, but remain insoluble due to the presence of network crosslinks. These high mechanical strength hydrogels have properties consistent with application as a substitute for the human cornea.
