GTF Long Range Program

Bolton, Clendenin, Dowell, Limborg, Schmerge

Overall plan: continue operation with Cu cathode until the summer shutdown (about August 16th).

Priority experiments: slice emittance, thermal emittance, temporal pulse shaping. Streak camera needed for temporal pulse shaping and also for stabilizing laser.

Longitudinal emittance: need intensified camera ($10K). Gated intensified camera another $10K. Try to borrow a camera.

Summer students: (1) MaxLab grad (via Ingolf) work on E-O device. (2) Undergrad develop tomography, analysis software.

Beginning with summer shutdown: (1) change solenoid; (2) bead drop plus add 2nd probe to gun; (3) install Mg cathode.

Pepper-pot plans: continue engineering design, construction for possible installation in fall 2002.
