Proposals for experimental work at SSRL are accepted twice a year. The current deadline is May 1, 2000. Proposals submitted in May will be rated in July/August and are eligible for beam time starting in November 2000.

Proposals are peer reviewed and rated on the basis of scientific and/or technological merit by the SSRL Proposal Review Panel. Proposals, which may be for either a program or a single experiment, are active for a two-year period. Program proposals are renewable for up to an additional two years based on evidence of satisfactory progress.

Proposals must be submitted on the appropriate forms following the required format. Particular attention must be paid to safety concerns. Proposals must be five pages in length or less and follow the guidelines in the SSRL Proposal Submittal and Scheduling Procedures. Proposals not following these guidelines may be returned unprocessed.

Protein Crystallography (Beamlines 7-1 and 9-1) and MAD proposals (Beamline 1-5 and 9-2) are accepted three times a year: April 1, July 1, and December 1. Additional information available here.
